Digital Fabrication:
This project was meant to introduce the class to new ways of bringing creations to life. I chose to create a vinyl sticker of an original design I made in Procreate. I used the image trace tool in Adobe Illustrator to create a vector version of my sketch and then sent it to the vinyl cutter. The process was easy and straightforward, and the end result was perfect for a 10 × 10 decal for my laptop case.
Gen AI Exploration:
This project was meant to introduce the capabilities of generative AI as a tool within the art field. I was tasked with generating ten images within an engine of my choice. Using ChatGPT, I prompted it to create a reference image for a sketch that I needed to create for another illustration project. I only changed the prompt by one word each time. This allowed me to control the experiment more. In the end, I found this process much more helpful than I expected, and I ended up with a reference I was happy with.
Semester Overview Poster:
This project was a way to show off the work I completed this semester. I was tasked with having a visual representation of the work, whether that be photographs, icons, or illustrations. Since I spent the majority of this semester focusing on Procreate, I felt it was only right to make a poster within the program itself by illustrating all of my work in the style of a bulletin/pin board. I was also asked to write explanations for each project, so there is a hand-drawn Post-it with checklists for each project. This was a fun way of reviewing the work I did over the last sixteen weeks!
