ARTIST STATEMENT & CV *

My work as an illustrator is driven by a desire to capture feeling through visual storytelling. From saturated joy to gloomy melancholy to tense anxiety, my art visualizes moments when human experiences unfold within realms of fantasy and myth. I aim to breathe life into seemingly simple narratives through detailed compositions and meaningful symbolism.

Working mostly through digital media, I use line art and texture to flesh out environments and characters, while using limited color palettes and lighting to help convey atmosphere and emotion. My obsession with the finer details and easter eggs drives my effort to make each illustration feel believable and lived in. I draw inspiration from middle-grade and young adult book illustrations, graphic novels, as well as concept art for visual media such as video games and animation. Much of my work is also inspired by my love of worldbuilding and my personal belief in a higher power. I look to J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis–whose literary works seamlessly melded fantastical worldbuilding with religious symbolism–as pioneers of what I seek to convey in my own art.

Ultimately, I use illustration to show that no matter how fantastical a world may be, its foundation remains human at its core. My work allows viewers to not only be immersed in extraordinary worlds but also to connect emotionally with something deeper within them.
