My work as an illustrator is driven by a desire to capture feeling through visual storytelling. From saturated joy to quiet melancholy to simmering anxiety, my art explores moments when human experiences unfold within realms of fantasy and myth. I bring depth into seemingly simple narratives through detailed compositions and meaningful symbolism.
Working primarily in digital media, I utilize textured line art and varied line weights to define my characters and the environments they inhabit. This approach creates a clear structural guide for my color and lighting choices. In each piece, I build cohesive color palettes that animate my line work, often favoring warm, muted midtones and highlights contrasted with cooler shadows to enhance depth. My focus on fine details and subtle visual “Easter eggs” reflects my commitment to making every illustration feel believable, immersive, and lived-in.
I draw inspiration from middle-grade and young-adult book illustrations, graphic novels, and concept art for video games and animation. My love of worldbuilding and my personal faith guide my creative approach. I look to authors like J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis, whose literary works seamlessly blended fantastical worldbuilding with religious symbolism, as models for the storytelling I wish to convey in my own art.
Ultimately, I use illustration to show that no matter how fantastical a world may be, it should be grounded in humanity. My work allows viewers to be immersed in extraordinary worlds while remaining emotionally connected to something deeper within them.
